Head Coaching Staff

  • Coach Heather

Born and raised in San Diego, Coach Heather joined the BWTA team in 2020. She brings 30+ years of knowledge and expertise from the health and fitness industry as an educator, personal trainer, movement specialist and has taught everything from barre to boxing! Her passion for playing tennis led her to coaching. She is just as talented off the court where she can be found singing, acting and dancing on a local theater stage.

  • Coach Roger

Coach Roger grew up playing tennis for Montclair High School and then went on to play for Wesleyan College (fun fact: in his high school years he won the Montclair boys 16u AND 18u singles championships!). In addition to coaching tennis, in his spare time he is a volunteer soccer coach and has coached Little League. Off the court you can see him spending time traveling, cooking and spending time with his family and Siamese cat named Mochi.

  • Coach Ellen

Coach Ellen has been part of our team for 15 years (20 if you count her time as a camper)! She started playing tennis when she was 7 and continued her tennis career through high school and college. She coached high tennis for 2 years before starting her full time job as a preschool teacher (we are lucky to have her on Sundays and with us every summer at camp and teaching adults on Tuesday nights). When she’s not on the court, she spends her time training for her 6th marathon!

  • Coach Courtney

Tennis has always been part of Courtney's life; he played in high school at Salisbury School, club tennis at Franklin & Marshall College and as an adult competed in one of the top leagues in Northern New Jersey. More recently, he found his calling as a tennis coach during the Pandemic. Courtney completed his Level One Coaching Certification through the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) in the Spring of 2023, and joined BWTA shortly after. Off the court, Courtney enjoys biking, hiking, sailing, playing ice hockey and spending time with family at his camp on Mt. Riga.
